Huh? Oh. You want another berry too, Nomad? Ok. [If anyone will realise once they tune in their Poke Gear to Otacon's signal is that he's feeding his Pokémon berries. There is a flutter of wings, as a Pidgey flies up onto Otacon's left shoulder and takes a peck at a Pecha berry in his hand. The engineer looks around for Snake, as he's travelling with his friend right now. They're in Cherrygrove City and Otacon is pretty excited about it all. New places are fun, right? The old soldier was probably having a smoke somewhere nearby, as he often did.]

You like that, Nomad? I know you don't eat as much as Piplup but you like berries too, don't you? [He offered his new Pokémon a smile and saw the bird Pokémon nod at him once. Piplup just stares and places his wings onto his hips. He's still wary about the new arrival, as Otacon only just caught Nomad on his way out of New Bark Town.

You can have some too, Piplup. But you'll have to wait your turn, ok? Nomad is new and I don't want him scared off by your temper. [The engineer pats Piplup's head and receives a nod but nothing else.]

As for battling. If anyone wants to battle with me I'll be more than happy to give one to any trainer. My level is between five and eight so I am pretty novice right now. Still, a challenge is what my Pokémon love. [Piplup pops his head into the screen, as he usually does, and waves.]

[ Snake wanders over, an Ampharos hugging onto his leg as it restrains his movement somewhat. ]

Nomad, huh? That's the name you settled on?

For my new Pidgey, yeah. I thought it fits, since he's a flying type and will learn Fly one day. [He offered Snake an awkward smile. He knew the older man was judging him somewhat.]

Hey, what's that new Pokémon on your leg, Snake?

New? Uh... It's not really new.

[ Asimov the Ampharos perks up at the sound of a VERY FAMILIAR voice. He rushes over to Otacon, giving him a BIG HUG! ] Faa!

... He, uh... His name is Asimov.

I've never seen him before, so he's pretty new to me. [At the hug, Otacon gasped and looked down at the small creature, smiling in surprise.]

Hey there, Asimov. A Russian name, huh? [He shot a look to Snake.] Is he always this friendly?

Probably named after Isaac Asimov... You know, that guy that wrote the rules of robotics. [ Snake might not have known about robotics, but even he knew about Asimov. ]

... Yeah, he loves everyone. [ Snake didn't really have the heard to tell him that Asimov used to belong to the Otacon that was here before. At least... not yet. Asimov just coos and hugs Otacon tighter, his tail wagging, the ball on the end glowing somewhat. ]

Yeah, I didn't think of that. I have read about Isaac Asimov a while ago. [He nodded. Did that mean that the Pokémon was an electric type? Otacon was slightly excited of the thought of meeting his first electric type Pokémon.]

He's a really friendly guy. [Otacon patted Asimov's head and noticed the wagging tail.] So, what moves does he know?

Hhnn... Haven't really checked. I can't use him in battle since he's about level 100. Was given to me by... a friend. But since I don't have any gym badges, he's kinda useless.

[ Asimov frowns at Snake and he shrugs. ] ... No offense. He spends more time hugging me than trying to fight.

Level 100? Woah, that's pretty impressive. The friend who had him before must have been a strong trainer to get him to that level. ]Piplup just huffed and turned around.]

Hey, you might reach that level one day, Pip. Don't be so grouchy. [Otacon patted the penguin Pokémon on the shoulder.] He's a friendly guy, that's for sure.

[Nomad just stared down from atop Otacon's left shoulder and gave Asimov a cautions stare.] All of my Pokémon are weak to electric types, so a battle wouldn't end well for us.

[ Asimov gave a loud, cheerful cry and hopped around Otacon a few more times. Snake wondered if Asimov KNEW that this wasn't the same Otacon, or if he didn't and was blinded by joy. ]

True.

Don't worry, the only thing he'll sic on you is a bunch of hugs. He's not going to fry any of your team.

Good. I wouldn't want Nomad or Pip to become frazzled Pokémon by Asimov. [He petted Asimov's head lightly.] Would you like a berry, Asimov? [Otacon pulled out a Pecha berry from his pocket and offered it to the Pokémon.]

[ Asimov cheered and reached up for the berry, his little arms stretching out to take it. Grabbing it, the Pokémon stuffed it into his mouth, humming happily at the taste. ]

... Hn. This kid's getting spoiled already.

Hey, he really likes these. [Otacon was surprised how keen the Pokémon was on berries. Piplup just stared and then placed his wings on his hips. Clearly, he was jealous that Otacon was feeding Asimov and not him.]

Here you go guys. [The engineer passed two more berries, one to Piplup, who gobbled his down quickly, and one to Nomad, who ate it with more manners.]

Be careful how many of those you buy, Otacon. You're only going to make more money by battling trainers, or by getting a job.

If you go broke on berries, I'm not gonna bail you out.

Buy? I got most of these off trees during our adventure from New Bark Town. I know I'll have to go easy on my supply, as I don't have a lot of cash on me. [He smiled shyly.]

[ Snake strokes his chin. ] Hmmm... I should have picked some, too.

We can go back to get some more you know. The trees are dotted around the area I've noticed. [Otacon offered Snake a reassuring smile.]

We'll just get some when we leave for Violet City.

Yeah, ok. When will we leave for Violet City?

Hhnn... It takes about a week or so to get to Violet... We'd have to prepare ourselves.

How about a day or two from now? [ The idea of traveling to Violet made Snake kind of hate everything, considering how many times he went back and forth there in the past... But this was a new journey. Things would probably not be as tedious this time. ]
