Boys Just Wanna Have Fun

[Otacon was looking forward to having Raiden over for a pizza and turtle watching evening. He had asked the young soldier a few days before about coming over to the Nomad, just to chill out. That's what Raiden needed more than anything. Just time to chill with his friends and why the hell not?

Otacon laid out the TMNT videos on the sofa and pulled out the pizza ordering leaflet. He was going to wait until Raiden arrived first, so that he could choose the pizza he wanted. Otacon hoped that either Sunny or Snake would turn up to enjoy the movies and pizza too. The more the merrier.]

I hope Pepsi is ok for you, Raiden...[Otacon muttered to himself, as he pulled out some cans of soda from the fridge. He knew Raiden didn't drink alcohol much now, which was fine, as neither did Otacon much. He preferred a green tea or something near healthy. He placed the cans of drink near the sofa and sat down. Now, all he had to do was wait.]

[Raiden drapes an arm over the back of the couch and crosses his legs]

Yeah, it is. I'm sure Rose is happy to have me out of the house too.

[It pleased Otacon to see Raiden relaxed. The engineer laid back into the sofa and sipped his soda. It felt good to spend time with friends and have awesome times.]

She won't miss you being out of the house then?

No. I don't really do much outside of work, game, spend time with her, and sleep. I'm usually cooped up in the house when I'm home. She says the socializing will help me.

Game? What sort of games do you like, Raiden? [Otacon was curious now. He knew the boy needed to socialise more, as did the engineer. He probably spent less time socialising than Raiden.

Aw, her cooking can't be that bad. Sunny's eggs aren't exactly the best.]

I'm not too picky with my games. FPS, RPGs, action, horror...

Oh, so you like a wide range of games? I guessed you would like FPS, as you're good with a gun. I love JPRGs, especially ones with cute anime girls in them. [Uh, Otacon? Don't bore poor Raiden again.]

[He frowned a bit, realizing how much the army has had an impact on his life. He quickly distracted himself from it by replying to Otacon]

I figured that was your type, considering your nickname.

The VR training. I would love to implement something like that. Really find out how the whole system works and have a play. It must have been some really complex programming with subroutines and re-routing of- [He stops himself and adjusts his glasses.]

Yeah, that's it. I used to go every year to the Otaku conventions when I was younger. It was like a regular thing for me. Not so much now though, as I'm busy with helping Snake and looking after Sunny.

[Both of which were much more important than an anime convention.]

I never went to one myself but I occasionally saw some cosplayers while I was working in Manhattan.

You did? Nice. What sort of costumes were they wearing? If you can remember, of course.

Not really sure since I don't watch anime. I remember dresses and cat ears.

Cats and ears? That is quite common for girls to dress as either cats or foxes. Foxes are quite an important animal within Japanese culture. [Not the best animal to discuss with former FOXHOUND employee, Otacon. He cleared his throat and moved on.]

If you could dress up, what would you be?

Probably someone from TRON. Maybe Clu... have Rose go as one of the Sirens or Quora.

TRON? I didn't know you liked Tron, Raiden. [Hal loves it, of course. All the computer tekky stuff.]

I guess I'd go as Kevin Flynn, the hacker. Suits me. [He can imagine Naomi in one of those tight suits.]

I'm an avid movie watcher. Rose and I watch stuff together all the time.

You'd be good as him.

You and Rose must have had some good movie nights in then. [He offered the blond a comforting smile. What must it like to have a girlfriend and do the same? He wanted to share in the same as you one day, Raiden.]

You think? Thanks. I do really like him in the movie, as he does sort of what I do.

I don't know the first thing about making clothes though. Not even sure if Rose would be interested.

I don't have a clue either. I'm even worse at cooking, as I can't even cook an egg right. Ask Sunny. [He sipped his drink and shook his head, smiling. Otacon looked up, as he heard knocks at the door.]

Ah. That will be the pizza. Stay here while I get the order. [He got up and went to open the hatch and pay the delivery guy. The man's face was rather confused, as to why anyone within a plane would order a pizza. He shrugged, took the money then passed the pizzas to Otacon.

Otacon waved to the guy and then came back in the room.]

Here we go.

[Raiden waited patiently until for Otacon to return, smiling when he could smell the pizzas through the boxes]

Can't wait to dig in!

... But you really can't cook an egg?

I can try but it always turns out pretty bad. I'm just hopeless at cooking, always have been. My father was the same too. [Poor Huey. The same cook as Hal.]

Here's yours, Raiden. [Pushing bad houghts of his father from his mind, he passed Raiden his pizza. Otacon picked up his own box and flopped down onto the couch.]

I could always show you how to cook. I'm not great at it but I make edible dishes.

I didn' knowyou coulcook, Rai'en. [He said with pizza still in his mouth.]

Like I said, I'm not the best. I'd teach Rose but the one time I suggested it, she got insulted.
