[Otacon offered up Piplup a Pecha berry, as he focused his attention onto the PokeGear. So, he had been within Johto for a few months now with his buddy, Snake. Yet, Otacon had something bothering him in the back of his mind for some time now. It was an urge he had resisted but could no longer hold it back. Yes, he had failed a long time ago at it but now felt like a good time to try again.

He wanted to go out on a date with someone.

Perhaps, there would be some nice girls he could talk to and ask out? A quiet evening within Violet City or a nice picnic by the lake where he caught his Magikarp? The possibilities were endless, right? His other self had dated Liquid Snake. What could go wrong with him asking a woman on a date? Otacon sighed and felt Piplup nudge him to say something.]

Ok..ok....no need to get tetchy, Pip. I'm about to express my feelings across a network here..oh! Is this on? Damn. [He cursed himself for accidentally switching the feed on too early.]

Uh.....[He composed himself in awkward Otacon fashion. Adjusting his glasses and clearing his throat.]

I'd like to enquire if there are any single, lovely young ladies within Johto who would like to go out on a date with me? Or just get to know me better. I'm an easy-going kind of guy and I love technology and Pokémon. Uh....if you'd like to get in contact with me I'm within Violet City just outside of Bellsprout Tower. I'm always on the video feed on the PokeGear too.

[He cleared his throat again and wondered if he hadn't just made himself the biggest fool within Johto. What would Snake think? He couldn't help it. He just had to follow his gut instincts.]

Well, lots of things. Research among the most part. Then there are other things too like anime and such. [He won't mention his failed attempts at online dating or his strange addiction to anime porn.]

You like anime? [ Thankfully, the unusualness of this statement distracts Mimi from any potential porn-related awkwardness on Otacon's part. ] But you're a Westerner, right? That is so cool! What kinds of anime do you like? I like magical girl anime!

Anyone can like anime, you know. You don't have to just be from Japan to like it. I like mecha anime like Policenauts and animes like that. I used to be addicted to it all the time when I was a little bit younger, but now my time is focused on my job mainly.

Really? Do a lot of Westerners like anime? [ This is a big deal for Mimi. She hasn't talked to that many Westerners, and she certainly hasn't heard of any who like anime before! ]

Oh, mecha! Like Gundam and stuff? I don't really watch that, but it's cool that you like it! Is your job as much fun as watching anime? [ Probably not. Being a grown-up is suffering. ]

Yeah, a lot of Westerners love anime. [He offered her a smile.]

Gundam? Yeah, I guess you could say I like that too, although I've not seen much of that. I love mecha robots and how they work. Part of my work was designing such robots. [REX got into the wrong hands though, didn't it, Otacon?]

You... designed robots? [ Mimi's eyes are practically saucers. ] Giant robots, like Gundam? Real ones? That's incredible, Otacon-san! You must be a super-genius!

Yeah, I've designed robots before and other such things. [Snake's sneaking Octo-camo suit for one. Yeah, this guy is pretty intelligent.]

They were called Metal Gears. I designed them so that they would help protect against threats by terrorists and criminal organisations. [Too bad they were USED by the groups he fought against.]

Robots to help keep the world safe?! That is soooo cooool! Otacon-san, you are the coolest! No wonder you're an anime fan - you're just like an anime character yourself! [ From a Japanese kid, this is high praise. ]
