010- action in Violet City [locked to sincereheart]

[Otacon had spoken to Mimi a few hours before on the subject of battling. She had agreed to battle his Pokémon with her own and he was rather excited about the whole idea.

Right now he is stood outside Bellsprout Tower with Piplup on his right shoulder, looking rather nervous. He hasn't ever battled a trainer before, except his friend, Snake. This was different because Mimi was a new friend and Otacon wasn't sure what to expect.]

We'll be ok, won't we, Pip? You and the rest of the team. You like Mimi, don't you? [Piplup nodded and placed his wings on his hips. He could be cocky when he wanted to be.]

Just give it your best shot and we'll be ok.

Hey, Mimi! Good to see you! [Otacon offered his young friend a broad smile and so did Piplup on his shoulder.] It's good to see you up close too. Uh, shall we battle here or somewhere else? It's up to you. [He looked around and wondered where a good place to battle would be.]

[ Mimi looks around too, her eyes finally lighting on an open area near the side of the tower. No one seems to be hanging out there, and Mimi figures there's enough space for a couple Pokémon to battle comfortably. ] How about over there?

[ Without waiting for a reply, Mimi starts heading over. Impatient, this one! ]

[Otacon followed where Mimi's eyes were going and nodded.]

Sure. It looks a good place as any for our battle. How are you feeling about this? Are you nervous at all? [To be honest...he was a little.]

Not really! I'm actually pretty excited! This is my first time having a real battle with a friend! Oh, but you shouldn't be nervous, Otacon-san! I promise I'll go easy on you! [ She giggles. ]

I've only battled once with my buddy Snake but that was more of a practice battle to show me what to do. This is my first real battle with another trainer on my own. You don't need to go that easy on me.

[He smiled shyly and let Piplup crawl down his shoulder and onto the ground.]

Which Pokémon will you be using first?

I figured I'd start with Hanemaru! [ She pats the Skiploom floating beside her. ] Though I've only got two Pokémon, so I guess that wasn't too hard of a choice! [ She giggles. ]

Sounds like a good choice to me. I think I'll be using Piplup, as he seems ready to do battle. [The little penguin looked up at his trainer with a keen expression, his wings on his hips, staring at Hanemaru.]

Ok. Let the battle begin! Ladies first.

Well then!

[ Mimi sizes up the competition. It's still a bit new to her, a battle where the opponent politely waits for your attack instead of doing its best to rip you to shreds. Also, calling your monster's attacks. That's new too! ]

Hanemaru, why don't you use... [ Hmm. This usually works in wild Pokémon battles. ] Stun Spore!

[ Hanemaru happily twirls back and forth, releasing an orangish powder from his flower. Said powder wafts into the air, settling down over Piplup. ]

Oh no....not Stun Spore. [Otacon's face dropped but he had to keep it together.] Piplup, are you ok? Can you move?

[The small penguin sneezed and had trouble moving his arms and feet very well. How would he attack like this? He gritted his teeth together and looked anxiously at his trainer.]

Ok...try and use Peck! [He hoped the small Pokémon would be able to move somehow. Piplup made a huge effort and managed to shake some of the powder off and launch a Peck attack at Hanemaru's flower.]

[ Hanemaru reels. It's super effective! ]

Darn! That one usually gets them... You're pretty tough, Piplup! [ Mimi smiles at him. Hanemaru does too, maybe. He's kind of always smiling. ]

Okay, try using Tail Whip! [ Hanemaru waggles his behind. It... certainly is a sight. ]

[Otacon smiled, as Peck did it's damage. He was at a disadvantage having Skiploom being a plant type and Piplup being a water type.]

Piplup, try and dodge and use Bubble! [Would it work? Piplup felt his defence fall, due to the Tail Whip. He couldn't dodge that in time and could still feel the effects of the Stun Spore. He jumped as high as he could and aimed a Bubble attack at Hanemaru.]

[ Good thing for Piplup Hanemaru doesn't actually know any damaging grass-type moves... derp. ]

[ There are too many bubbles for Hanemaeu to dodge, and they break in his face. He shakes them off easily enough, but damage has been done. Mimi watches with some concern. ]

Okay, Hanemaru! Now use Tackle! [ It's time to go on the offensive. Hanemaru wiggles his butt again, but this time only in preparation to charge - straight at Piplup. ]
